PdotO Honors Acting Legend Don Mlangeni Nawa After His Passing

South Africa is mourning the loss of a true icon, and rapper-actor PdotO has added his voice to the national tribute.

Following the death of veteran actor Don Mlangeni Nawa on April 16, 2025, PdotO took to social media to share a heartfelt message:

Born in Soweto in 1959, Nawa rose through the ranks to become a cornerstone of South African television. From his early comedic brilliance as Laqhasha in Sgudi Snaysi to his unforgettable run as Bra Zeb in Isidingo, his performances left an undeniable mark. He won the Golden Horn for Best Actor in a TV Soap in 2006, a testament to his powerful presence and craft.

Over a career that spanned more than 30 years, Nawa brought life to every role—from intense dramas like Hlala Kwabafileyo to modern hits like The River, Shaka iLembe, and Netflix’s Savage Beauty. Fellow actor Sipho Mbele summed it up best: “He always created magic out of the script.”
In a statement, Nawa’s family confirmed his passing, describing him as “the heart of our family… and a gifted actor whose presence lit up every stage and screen he graced.” No cause of death has been shared.
